A recent graduate of Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School in New Jersey, Sam Chandler has balanced academic and athletic achievement with service to the local and global community. He traveled in the summer of 2016 to Nosara, Costa Rica, where he participated in the planting and development of the Olas Verdes sustainable aquaponic garden. Sam Chandler returned to Costa Rica from Rumson, after having participated in Project Oasis in July of 2015, when he and his fellow travelers cared for animals and performed trail maintenance during a week-long trip.

Also a four-year varsity baseball player and a member of a travel soccer team, Sam Chandler has shared his athletic skills with younger players in his community. He served as an assistant coach to a team of third- and fourth-grade boys, to whom he offered both instruction and encouragement. In 2015, he helped lead the team to victory in a town tournament and an undefeated season.

Named captain of Rumson-Fair Haven varsity baseball team in his senior year, Mr. Chandler also earned distinction as a first-team, all-division shortstop. In the same year, he received a presidential academic award, served as vice president of the RFH chapter of the National Honor Society, a member of the Spanish National Honor Society, and became a captain of the school’s varsity baseball team. He is currently engaged in a postgraduate year at Blair Academy.
